在阅读英文报刊时，遇到陌生的单词千万不要惊慌，很多时候，我们自能在文中找到该词的精确解释。拿这篇报道为例，在随后段落里，“警方发言人”很快帮读者解答了何为“DUI”——driving under the influence（酒劲儿还在起作用时开车）。
另外，“酒后驾车”比较常见的英文表达还有drunk driving和“DWI”——driving while intoxicated（酒醉时开车）。

所以这些词汇被称为 locker-room language（男人聚集在更衣室里说的话），除了某些特定场合，是不太该使用的话。
如果不小心在正式场合说出四字经该怎么办呢？
就可以开玩笑的说：Parden my French.来缓和尴尬的气氛。
如果是自己的晚辈说了这样的话，父母通常会说 I'm going to wash your mouth out with soap. 就是说You have a dirty mouth. You should be punished的意思。
shit fuck damn asshole bitch hell 这些字需要认识。如果不真正了解他们的意思和用法，最好避免使用。吵死了：Drop dead!（也就是走开的意思）
不开玩笑：I mean it!（我是说真的）
不行：No way!

如果觉得stop it 语气太强烈，可以用Just stop it.来缓和语气。
